Because these window shades are made using a double-sided pleated fabric, there are no visible strings or string holes. That's because the strings are hidden in the middle of the shade material. Second, they provide better insulation from heat and cold. The double-sided fabric creates an air pocket between the two sides of the fabric giving them a much higher R-value than traditional pleated shades.
