How to properly measure your window: Be sure to always measure the exact width and height of your window opening down to the nearest eighth of an inch. See additional measuring info here: How to Measure Your Windows For an Inside Mount, you will need to measure the width and height in three places and make sure you use the SMALLEST measured width and height for each. For an Outside Mount, you will need approximately 2" of flat space all the way around the window for the frame to attach to the wall or trim(2" min on each side). To determine the size needed, measure the exact overall width and height of the framed size needed. This size will be the overall size from the outside edge of the frame to the outside edge of the frame. Determine if your window sill protrudes (Outside Mounts only): Now check to see if you have a window sill that protrudes out into the room. This will determine how your shutter's frame is designed. If you do not have a window sill that protrudes into the room then you can do a simple 4 sided L-Frame or Z-Frame (see frame styles below). If your window sill does protrude into the room then you will need to order a 3-Sided Frame with a sill plate. This is still a 4-Sided frame but the bottom portion is made to rest on the sill where the other three sides wrap around the outside of the window opening. What is your Window Depth? (Inside Mounts only): Measure from the front edge of your drywall (or trim) surrounding your window opening back to the first obstruction. This could be a hand-crank, security device, ledge, or the window itself. Note whether this distance is 1½" or more. If so, you can select an Inside Mount. If not, that means the depth is not sufficient enough for the louvers to be able to rotate open without obstruction. NOTE: the larger 3 1/2" and 4 1/2" louvers require even more depth for louvers to clear backside and not rub against the window frame or glass. Does your window tilt into the room? (Inside Mounts only): This info is needed for Inside Mounts only. If you have the type of window that tilts in for cleaning and you ordered an Inside Mount the frame of the shutter would obstruct the window from tilting in making it impossible to clean or remove second or third-story windows and screens. If you want to continue to use the tilt-in feature we recommend doing an Outside Mount for these applications. Choose Louver (slat) Size: Choose from 2 1/2", 3 1/2" or 4 1/2" Louvers • 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" Louvers offer a contemporary look, but are perfectly fine for Traditional style homes. • 4 1.2" Louvers offer a more contemporary look and are a great choice for larger windows, offering that plantation styling. Determine your Shutter Configuration: 
Choose a Frame Style: We offer a few different frame choices. For inside mount we offer an "L" Frame, Trim Frame and a "Z" Frame. For outside mount we offer an "L" Frame or Casing Frame. The frames are included at no additional charge and you can view close up images under the options tab below. Hinges: Hinges are color-coordinated to the white panels. Determine if you need/want a Divider Rail: Divider rails add strength to your shutters, and allow you to operate the top louvers independently from the bottom louvers. Note: Center line location of divider rails may vary up or down by 1"-3". Also, If your shutter is going to have a divider rail you will need to let us know if there are other windows in that room that will also have divider rails so we can be sure to have them placed at same height up from sill. If not, the rail height differences may be something that bothers you when viewed from inside or outside the home. We offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The limited lifetime warranty extends only to the original purchaser and is non-transferable and does not cover damage caused by improper installation, maintenance or use. This limited warranty does not cover claims that any such components are defective as a result of exposure to sunlight. Any defect, malfunction or failure to perform caused by fire, wind, hail, flood, lightning, or pollutants is excluded from this limited warranty. If any of our products fail to meet this limited warranty we will repair or replace the defective part(s) free of charge. You must pay the costs or removal, installation, or reinstallation of the product. Even if we are at fault or make any mistakes while processing your order, we will not pay for air freight charges to remedy the situation. Please view our Return/Repair Policy on our Order Policies.
